Baseball Earns First Win of 2022 Season

Imperial Valley College baseball was back in action on Tuesday, February 1st hosting Barstow Community College. 

IVC won the game 8-2 behind a strong pitching performance from starter Isaac Martinez who threw four scoreless innings while striking out five Vikings. Michael Soto earned the win throwing four strong innings of relief. Felix Mejia closed the game throwing a one scoreless inning, surrendering no hits and striking out one. 

The offense was highlighted by a three hit performance by outfielder Ryan Bonilla who scored once and drove in a run. Roberto Gonzalez, Antonio Perez, and Davian Esqueda each collected two hits helping IVC collect a total of 12 hits on the day. Not only did Roberto Gonzalez collect two hits at the plate he also shined defensively turning two double plays in the infield. 

Roberto Gonzalez, Ryan Bonilla, Brian Martin, and Erik Garcia each swiped a base helping IVC put up 8 runs on the day. 


This win moves IVC to 1-1-1 through the first three games of the season. Baseball is back in action on Thursday, February 3rd traveling to Victor Valley College. The team will rest over the weekend before an opening day rematch at Mt. San Jacinto College on Tuesday, February 8th. 

The next home game for IVC Baseball is on February 15th. Fans are welcomed at the game wearing masks and are required to complete a pre screening form and temperature check while entering campus.
