Late Inning Rally Takes Down Cerro Coso

In late february, only a few games before the start of conference play, Baseball's late inning heroics helped take down Cerro Coso College in a thriller. Cero Coso jumped out to a 9-4 lead after four full innings of play. Runs were plentiful for both teams with the final score being 17-16 in favor of IVC in what turned out to be a wild game. The IVC offense continued to swing it well as Alonzo Durazo and Jacob Sapp helped lead the way with a triple each. Davian Esqueda and Xhavier Caravetta both went for extra base hits with a double each. Alonzo Durazo scored five times in the game while Xhavier Caravetta collected three hits while driving in three runs all while hitting in the nine hole. IVC was trailing 16-10 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning. The wind picked up and the bats came alive, as the offense put up seven runs in the home half of the eigth to take the lead by just a single run. Roberto Gonzalez came into relief in the top of the 9th, striking out the only two batters he faced to close out the win for IVC.
