Carrion Dominates as Softball Starts Strong

Yeraldine Carrion has been one of the most dominate pitchers in all of California Community College Softball to start the 2022 season. Friday afternoon 2/25, on the road in Chula Vista vs. Southwestern College was no different. Carrion struck out an astonishing 17 batters while tossing a complete game no hitter. Carrion allowed just a single walk while another batter reached on an error. These two baserunners were the only blemishes on an outherwise perfect performance. IVC scored one run in the first inning off a Shaylinn Mays RBI which proved to be the difference in the game.

Although the no hitter to open conference play was impressive, a case can be made that Yeraldine Carrion was actually more dominant the week prior. On February 19th, Carrion again tossed a complete game, this time striking out a jaw dropping 19 batters vs the then 6-2 Venutra College Pirates while only allowing two hits. Imperial Valley College won the game 2-0 over Ventura.

Leading the way on the offensive side of the ball is Elizabeth Salcedo who currently leads the team in RBI's, hits, and extra base hits while posting a .429 average. Camila Carrasco and Taylor Marini have also contributed to IVC's offense in a huge way both posting a .500 average through 10 at bats.

Softball currently sits at 4-1 and is back in action for a home double header vs San Diego Mesa College on March 2nd.
