Softball Takes Down Southwestern, Double Header with Mesa up Next

On Wednesday, March 16th, IVC Softball continued their winning ways with a single home conference game vs. Southwestern Community College. The offense started hot, putting four runs on the board in the first three innings. Melanie Navarrete got things started for IVC in the bottom of the first with an RBI single to bring home Shortstop, Alessandra Banuleos. Imperial's offense scored two more runs in the second inning off an Elizabeth Salcedo RBI single. Elizabeth was brought around to score the next batter up when Camila Carrasco drove in the team's third run of the day. Melissa Flores had the games only extra base hit of the day, hitting an RBI double in the third inning to drive home Elizabeth Salcedo

Pitching was stellar for IVC, as it has been most of the season when Yeraldine Carrion has the ball. Carrion stuck out 13 of the 26 batter she faced. Allowing only 1 unearned run in the first inning off of two bunt miscues.

Next up for IVC is an away double header at San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday March 23rd.

IVC Softball currently sits in second place in the PCAC conference standings. IVC was most recently ranked just outside of the top 10 teams in Southern California in the latest 3CFCA rankings released on Monday March 22nd.
