Softball Falls to #7 Palomar in 13 inning Marathon

On March 30th, 2022 the two top softball teams in the PCAC met for a double header that would likely determine who would be crowned conference champion. The previous double header matchup between the two teams resulted in a split, each team winning one game. Imperial gave the ball to ACE pitcher Yeraldine Carrion and as usual, she did not disappoint. Carrion threw 12 immaculate innings. Through 12 innings Carrion allowed zero runs, suffering zero walks, and striking out an astonishing 19 hitters. Through 12 innings complete the game was in a deadlock 0-0 tie. The 7th ranked team in the state broke through in the 13th inning. Palomar utilized small ball with a furry of squeeze bunts, slashes, and stolen bases as IVC finally cracked. The game finished 8-0 in favor of Palomar with all 8 runs coming in the top of the 13th inning.

Game two was a lop-sided Palomar victory 11-0 with a mercy rule after 6 complete innings.

With these two losses, Palomar softball has a strong hold of first place in the PCAC moving to 6-1, their only conference loss coming at the hands of Imperial. Meanwhile IVC drops to 5-5 in conference sitting 1.5 games up of the third-place team, Southwestern.

IVC will wrap up PCAC play with a road double header on April 6th at Southwestern college.
