Another No-No for Carrion

MENIFEE, CA (4/20/2022) Another week, another dominant performance for IVC ace pitcher Yeraldine Carrion. IVC Softball took on nonconference opponent Mt. San Jacinto on the road in Menifee, CA for their final regular season game. Carrion took the circle and threw a complete game, no-hitter while striking out 19. This performance was more than just dominant. Carrion did not allow Mt. San Jacinto to put the ball in play until the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs, when an MSJC batter popped up a bunt to the pitcher. One more ball was put in play for MSJC in the 7th inning on a ground out to third base handled cleanly by Elizabeth Salcedo. The only small blemish on the day for Carrion was 3 walks allowed through the first two innings. No baserunner reached base for the last 5 innings of the game for Mt. San Jacinto. Carrion's final line for the day included, 7 innings pitched, zero hits, zero runs, 3 walks and 19 strike outs. This complete game (CG) no hitter was Carrion's second of the year. The first CG no hitter was vs Southwestern CC on February 25th. 

IVC's offense collected 8 hits on the day leading to three runs. Leading the offensive charge was Elizabeth Salcedo and Melanie Navarrete, each with two hits and one RBI on the day. Alessandra BañuleosJunessa Portal and Camila Carrasco also collected a hit in the contest. 

This nonconference game wraps up the regular season for Softball. IVC Softball finished in second place in the PCAC standings. California Community College Softball regular season ends on Wednesday, April 27th. Playoff seeding and standings will be announced shortly after the conclusion of the regular season. The first round of softball playoffs would start Friday, May 6th.
